New Kinect Sports Screenshots Reveal Events, Raise Concerns
Five new screenshots for Microsoft’s Kinect launch title, Kinect Sports, have hit the inter-tubes today, and they reveal a little more about the Wii Sports clone. The title will offer players with an irrational fear of controllers activities that include the long jump, bowling, boxing, ping pong, and hurdle jumping. Also featured, though not in today’s screenshots, are javelin-throwing, soccer and volleyball.
While Wii Sports was a ton of fun at the time of its release, the intermittent years have caused casual and hardcore gamers alike to grow weary of the gesture based tennis and boxing games. Will the controller-free approach of Kinect Sports be enough to get the masses invested in yet another sports mini game title?

Dragon’s Lair Trilogy Coming To Wii This Fall

Wii owners looking to revisit, or perhaps experience for the first time, Don Bluth and Rick Dyer’s iconic adventure series Dragon’s Lair will have the chance when the Dragon’s Lair Trilogy hits Nintendo’s little white box this fall.
The pack includes the original groundbreaking Dragon’s Lair, the sequel Dragon’s Lair 2: Time Warp, and Bluth and company’s galactic follow up to Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace.
Similar to the recently released iPhone ports, the rereleases will feature remastered animations and the original arcade modes. For those players who’d rather not engage in the game’s minimal gameplay, there’s the option to simply watch the game “play” itself.
All three classic titles can be yours for $29.99 when the Dragon’s Lair Trilogy comes to Wii later this year.
Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.
Dragon’s Lair Trilogy for Wii: one step closer to porting Dragon’s Lair to everything
Hey, Mad Dog McCree: Gunslinger Pack, there’s a new sheriff in town — the “town” in this case being the set of “Collections of Three Laserdisc Games on Wii.” Digital Leisure and publisher Destineer are partnering to release Dragon’s Lair Trilogy on Wii this fall.
Despite the name, the “Trilogy” is only two-thirds Dragon’s Lair: in addition to Dragon’s Lair and Dragon’s Lair 2: Time Warp, the disc will include Space Ace. And for those of you who want to watch the remastered animation, but who firmly insist that these aren’t video games, you can remove any vestige of interactivity and just enjoy the games in “Watch Mode.”
The collection will retail for $30, which is relatively good news for this guy.

Bethesda Not Planning Wii or Motion Control Games

Over the last couple years, TheFeed has written so many stories about development companies leaping into the iPhone game space, or diverting resources from ‘core game development to focus on Wii titles, or shoehorning in motion controls where they don’t fit, that it’s nice to write a story from the opposite point of view.
According to executive producer Todd Howard, Bethesda is waiting on adding Kinect or Move support to games, and isn’t working on a Wii title, nor are they rushing to add 3D. Bethseda is also not making a Facebook game. He didn’t mention it, but I assume Howard is not working on a browser-based, casual MMO either. Instead, they’ll be creating the epic games gamers actually want. Although Howard did mention wanting to make an iPhone game, but the project is on the "back burner"
Industry Gamers asked Howard whether his company is working on any 3D or Kinect titles, and he said:
"No, I sort of take a wait-and-see approach on that. We do a bunch of games, so ‘X’ developer might decide, ‘Hey we can take advantage of Kinect this way.’ I think it really depends on the game.
When asked about the Wii, Howard said,
"From my group, which is the internal Bethesda development team, probably not. The stuff we’re doing is a better fit on the other platforms. You can never say never, but I think for the kind of games that we like to play and make, it fits the other platforms… if there’s going to be some bigger, more mature games on it, the system, for better or worse, has been moved to this demographic [younger people]. If we had an idea that we thought would really take advantage of that platform, we would do something for it. Usually, we’re thinking more in terms of graphically doing things that the other systems do. That’s what we get excited about."
As for Facebook games, here’s Howard’s take:
"I’ve got to be honest: I don’t get it. I look at it and try to understand but for now I’ve just decided to ignore it (laughter). I think, one day, maybe I’ll figure it out, but until then, I don’t see the allure of those kinds of games. There might be a way to connect people. I think that’s always a good goal: to connect people through your game. So I’ve kind of looked into that, how we might be able to do some of those things. But as far as a game on there, I don’t know.
Refreshing right?

Lucha Libre: AAA Heroes del Ring wrestler roster revealed
Oh, man. We’ll be the first to admit that we know less than nothing about the apparently radical world of professional Mexican wrestling, but after reading the recently revealed list of of fighters in Lucha Libre: AAA Heroes del Ring, it would be irresponsible for us not to get involved. Por ejemplo, included on this 31-strong line-up are three different wrestlers by the names of Killer Clown, Psycho Clown and Zombie Clown. That is bananacakes, and we are so, so down with it.
Check out the rosters for the 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the wrestling title posted after the jump, and try to decide which of the Clown triplets you’re going to throw your support behind.

Kanye Gives Facebookers the Best Break Ever, Disney Nabs Playdom

Highlights from this morning’s other big tech headlines….
- Yesterday, Kanye West did some networking at Facebook headquarters, where he also delivered some material from his upcoming album. After West expressed a fear that he might “wear out his welcome,” employees enthusiastically urged him to continue. Hmm. Go back to work, or slack off and watch Kanye? Tough call. [From: The Daily Wh.at and Rap-Up]
- ESPN recently partnered with social gaming firm Playdom, the creator of ‘Social City,’ to develop a line of social sports games. Disney, which happens to own ESPN, apparently recognized Playdom’s market potential; it just purchased the company for $563.2 million with another $200 million in possible incentives. [From: Mashable]
- Rather than solely having Queue access, PS3 owners can now search Netflix’s Watch Instantly catalog directly from their Sony consoles. Sorry, Xbox and Wii owners, you’ll apparently have to wait until the fall. [From: Engadget]
- After months of waiting, Android 2.2, or Froyo, has apparently made an appearance on the Droid X. The software upgrade should officially arrive on various other gadgets within the next few weeks. [From: Engadget]
- Authorities dismantled the global Mariposa botnet in May, and the FBI believes Slovenian police have nabbed the operation’s ringleader, a 23-year old known as Iserdo. [From: The Associated Press]
- Despite consistently poor AT&T customer service reviews, Microsoft has — at least according to one AT&T spokesperson — tapped the telecommunications company to be the “premier carrier for Windows Phone 7.” [From: Engdaget]

Is the Wii Lightning-Proof?
While the Xbox 360 and PS3 are, by most standards, the beefier of the three consoles, one thing the Wii may have going for it is an immunity to lightning. At least, that’s what a story that BioWare Mythic Executive Producer Jeff Hickman told Kotaku seems to indicate.
Hickman related how he, his wife and their three children were going about their various activities one night about two months ago, when lightning struck their house.
