Sony Motion Controller Named Move; "Won’t Work with a Flick of the Wrist"
Sony’s GDC press conference just finished and the official push has started for their motion controller. Sony revealed the name is not Wand or Arc, but is PS Move. It can be purchased in alone, bundled with the eyetoy and a game, or that bundle combined with a Playstation. An price of under $100 was given only for the Move-Eyetoy-game bundle.
The controller does require the Eyetoy to function. Many games were shown to require two Move controllers or even a nunchuck-like add-on that Sony has named the “sub-controller.”
The press event itself was very reminiscent of Nintendo events revealing the Wii years ago, and the technology does seem similar. Sony claims that the benefit of their method is accuracy, and it does seem to work with more precision than Nintendo’s Wiimote and even slightly better than the Wii Motion Plus.
