Fox News Spins Gun Death to Involve Video Games

Gamers have had their differences with Fox News. Facts and truth are secondary concerns — if that — to sensationalism and controversy. A classy and harmless love scene in Mass Effect became the “Se”Xbox scandal. The “No Russian” level in Modern Warfare 2 became a four minute display of just how unfair and unbalanced Fox News can be. Which is why it is no surprise that a 3-year old girl shooting herself in the stomach was spun to include Nintendo in the headline of this Fox News story.

The mother claims that the girl picked up her stepfathers .380 caliber pistol and shot herself in the stomach. The mother told law enforcement that the daughter “could have” mistaken the gun for a Nintendo Wiimote.

The story goes on to explain that the stepfather took out the gun because he had heard a prowler. Then — because he is so protective of his family — he went to bed and left the gun on the table where the girl eventually found it.
