Nintendo Dpad’s Wii holiday buyers guide
Well, the holidays are upon us and what better way to celebrate then to make a Wii buyers guide? Below you we find everything you need from Virtual Console, WiiWare and Wii retail for your holiday wish list.
Once you get your Wii - or if you already own one - connecting it to the internet gives you a multitude of options for downloading of games. Between Virtual Console and WiiWare, there is a lot of content. Here is a list of highly recommended titles from the Wii Shop Channel.
Virtual Console:
1. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Super Mario Kart
3. Megaman 2
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Metroid
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Punch-Out
Super Smash Bros. 64 (this title is due out before year’s end)
Street Fighter 2
F-Zero
WiiWare:
World of Goo
Megaman 9
Tetris Party
Bomberman Blast
Konami’s Rebirth series (Gradius, Contra, or the upcoming Castlevania)
Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodias
Beat Trip series (Beat, Core, Void)
Excitebike: World Rally
Pokemon Rumble
Dr. Mario Online RX
With the downloadable games covered we now move on to the actual retail games. We will leave the accessory buying up to you, but we do suggest to buy some sort of recharge station for your Wii Remotes such as the many ones Energizer makes for example. Below you will find some of the best games the genre has to offer. The games below have only released in the last 6 or so months.
Wii retail:
New Super Mario Bros. (platformer)
Metroid Prime Trilogy (adventure, exploration)
Punch-Out!! (boxing, puzzle)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex (fps)
Wii Fit Plus (fitness)
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (lightgun)
Muramasa: The Demon Blade (action side-scroller)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (sports)
Guitar Hero 5 (music)
Wii Sports Resort (party)
With the above game lists to choose from we have compiled what we think of to be the best in their respected categories or services. Obviously, we understand that one person can’t afford all of these games, but this should atleast help outline the games that you should be researching when purchasing a game.
