Media: BioShock 2 - Multiplayer, Combat, and Character & Story Interviews, plus Gameplay Montage

The folks at 2K Games, developers of BioShock 2, sure do love to give interviews. At least, it certainly seems that way, as they have given not one, not two, but three video interviews for the upcoming return to Rapture.

The first one focuses on the game’s new multiplayer aspect, something some debate over whether it belongs or not (what is a game if you can’t shoot your friend in the head, right?). Now is our chance to see what they are doing with it:

Personally, given the nature of the main game, I was expecting multiplayer to focus on Big Daddy vs. Big Daddy-type action. But it’s neat to see that they have instead taken another route with it… though admittedly, Big Daddy brawls would be awesome.

Remember back to January of 2007, when the Wii had just come out, and was the hottest thing on the market; no one could get one.

Unfortunately for one Jennifer Strange, a couple of Sacramento radio hosts for the program “Morning Wave” had gained possession of one of the coveted consoles, and decided to hold a contest for listeners to claim the prize. The contest, dubbed “Hold Your Wee for a Wii,” had contestants see how much water they could drink before using the toilet.

Strange attempted to win the effort for her three children, but lost her life due to water intoxication in the process. And though no charges were filed against the radio station, the case still went to court and was settled this week.

Warren Spector Already Has Epic Mickey Sequels Sketched In His Mind

Epic Mickey Screenshots, Details Revealed

Trilogies remain a hot concept in video games, albeit one that’s cooled in the wake of some first entries in proposed trilogies (read: Too Human) underperforming. Disney Epic Mickey wasn’t announced as a three-game anthology, but designer Warren Spector told 1UP he’s thinking about the second and third games already. But, he admits, that’s how he always designs games.

"I don’t do anything that isn’t extensible," he said. "And I will certainly feel like that I have not done my job if we can’t make other games in this world with these characters. In my head, I’ve got two more planned. In the business world of reality, those games have not approved, and who knows if we’ll ever see them. I had three games planned for Deus Ex, and you see where that got me."

Spector was involved in the second, less favorably received Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, while Eidos Montreal is currently moving forward with Deus Ex 3, said to be a prequel.

Epic Mickey is a Wii exclusive, but Spector’s said Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were in development.

Japan: DSi On Top, Forza And FIFA Make Top Ten

DSi comfortably topped Japanese software sales during the week ended October 25.

Weekly sales of Nintendo’s latest handheld fell by around 7,000 units, but it still managed to outsell Sony’s PSP by over 9,000.

PSP and PS3 sales were roughly flat, while Wii slipped further behind the pair as sales declined by 4,000 units.

DS Lite leaped ahead of Xbox 360 with a 4,000 unit jump in sales. Microsoft’s console also saw a rise in weekly sales, while PS2 recorded a marginal decline.

Disney’s ‘Epic Mickey’ Goes Back to Mischievous Side of Iconic Mascot

Mickey Mouse is returning to the video game world in a big way. Disney has officially announced ‘Epic Mickey,’ a new Nintendo Wii game that’s aimed at taking the world’s most famous mouse back to his roots.

Due in late 2010, the in-game Mickey will be a far cry from the character many people are used to. Instead of the happy-go-lucky mascot, this Mickey will be more akin to the one Walt Disney introduced in the 1920s — mischievous, and not afraid to get in a fight.

“One of our creative problems [at Disney Interactive] was Mickey Mouse,” says Graham Hopper, president of Disney Interactive Studios. “He was one of the most popular characters in the world, but he had never reached his full potential in video games.”

Those lucky enough to live in Europe will soon (as in November 6th soon) be able to purchase a special edition of that black Nintendo Wii some of us have been drooling over for the past few months. Sure, it’s just a regular Wii… but it’s black, which is so much cooler. Well someone’s finally gotten their hands on it and done an unboxing, and we have to say that it looks even better than it did in the press shots. The limited edition Black Wii bundle with Wii Sports Resort and a Motion Plus controller will run you around £164.99 in the UK, and those of us in the US? Well, we’ll just have to make due with the black controller and nunchuk. There are a few more shots after the break. Hit the read link for the full unboxing and video.

[Thanks, Emilia]

Buy 2 Wii games, get 1 free at Target starting Nov. 1

Seems like these buy 2, get 1 free sales are all the rage these days, as Target has just announced it will be hosting one starting November 1. Unlike the recent sales from Amazon, Toys R Us and Best Buy, Target’s sale applies only to Wii games, though it’s worth noting that it does apply to all of them. As Wii games tend to be significantly cheaper than 360 and PS3 games, this might be a good deal for the early holiday shoppers out there.

Target is also offering a deal on Band Hero starting November 3 and running through next week. Those that pick up any version of the Band Hero bundle ($199) will get a free $20 gift card along with it. That should be just enough to buy supplies for the Taylor Swift party you will no doubt be forced to throw.
